Try Surfing
Want to see what it’s like to balance on a surfboard without going swimming? Come to the New England Boating Experience to try surfing on a SURFSET board with instructors form FloorTime Studios. The SURFSET board is a total-body surf trainer designed to simulate the physical demands of surfing. You’ll learn some new moves and be ready to try the real thing this summer. Several SURFSET sessions will be run each day of the show.
Sailing Secrets for Powerboaters
How does the wind “push” a sailboat? Why do sailboats “zig-zag” around? Is it scary when you “lean over”? This insider track to sailing will explore everything you wanted to know about sailing but were afraid to ask. Providence Community Boating Center will show you that sailing is easier to learn than you may have thought.Friday, 1:00 and 5:00 pm
Saturday, 1:00 and 5:00 pm
Sunday, 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm
Why Knot?
This mini-introduction to knot-tying with Providence Community Boating will cover some basic seamanship knots and their uses. Sit-On-Top Kayaking for Everyone
Sit-on-top kayaks offer great stability, ease of use, and minimal training to get you or your family out on the water. With no enclosed cockpit, paddlers do not need to learn the “Eskimo roll” or worry about pumping out accumulated water after an accidental flip. Providence Community Boating will help you explore basic safety and address why sit-on-tops are the preferred choice for beginner paddling programs.Friday, 3:00 pm

Sailing Through Science After School
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and sailing are the perfect mix to help youth connect to the environment, learn about the forces at work on a sailboat, and develop a lifelong interest in learning through hands-on, daily sailing adventures. Providence Community Boating serves as a national model in piloting and developing STEM content with US SAILING, the national governing body of sailing, in the Reach STEM program.Friday, 3:00 pm
