Sport Fishing Seminars

Fishing enthusiasts know that one of the best places in New England for sport-fishing instruction and inspiration is the Providence Boat Show. This year, Captain Jack Sprengel of East Coast Charters is back with a crew of local anglers and experts. Together, they have created a new series of seminars that include sessions that are sure to be standing-room-only events. So whether you are a tournament angler looking for an edge or just getting started in the sport, the seminar leaders at the Providence Boat Show will give you the education you need to take your next step in the sport. Says Captain Jack of the experts coming to this year’s show: “These guys are some of the best at what they do—and they come with my personal seal of approval.”

Boating Safety Challenge Exam

Thanks to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, you can take the Challenge Exam to earn your Certificate of Boating Safety Education during your visit to the Providence Boat Show. Before you take the exam, you’ll have to complete the online study course offered by Boat-Ed (see more below). The course covers a range of topics—from safety instructions to boat handling to reading the weather—and prepares you for a variety of situations you could find yourself in while on the water. Because educated boaters are safer boaters, completing a course and receiving your boating safety certification can also earn you a discount on your boat and PWC insurance.
